Media Power has Designed a New Play to Air System to Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation
Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), the national public broadcasting service of the Republic of Mauritius, has installed with Media Power the SeaChange Universal MediaLibrary and MediaServer 1200 play-to-air system at its new headquarters. The facility houses MBC’s radio and television networks.
A New Generation of Storages
At the center of the broadcaster’s fresh setup is a new SeaChange Universal MediaLibrary (UML), which will be used in MBC for direct ingest, playout, and archive. It will be directly accessed by Avid, Telestream Vantage, and homegrown applications for automation, browsing, and true edit-in-place. The UML provides a robust 144TB of raw capacity in a compact 5 rack units high storage matrix. Each UML is equipped with two 10GigE ports, delivering gigabyte-level performance. Content is protected with high availability controllers and RAID 6-configured drives that are hot-swappable and field replaceable – ensuring no single point of failure. The UML is readily scalable in a grid architecture.
A Powerfull Ingest and PlayOut System
To be used for ingest and playout, the SeaChange MSV 1200 is the latest in the series of standalone, broadcast-quality video servers that offer flexibility in terms of resolution and video format, so that MBC is always ready for channel expansion. At only 3RU, it accommodates 8TB SATA with RAID 6 dual-parity data protection. The MSV 1200 facilitates high channel density ingest of 4 channels and playout of 8 channels of SD and HD content. While MSV 1200 can serve as a standalone playout server, content from the UML can also be streamed through without requiring any downloads.
A Scalable Solution
“Expansion is a natural cycle that broadcasters go through,” said Stephane Jauroyou, Vice President for Broadcast Sales, SeaChange International. “By continuously providing future-ready and reliable play-to-air technologies, SeaChange supports MBC’s goal to launch an operationally efficient broadcast environment in the new headquarters.”
